Chancellor

The Chancery is responsible for the preservation of the historical and ecclesial heritage of our Diocese, including:

Preservation of Historic Buildings
Maintenance, protection and improvement of the landmark Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

Conservation of Records and Artifacts
The Office of Diocesan Archives oversees the preservation and cataloguing of a vast collection of materials that represent a storehouse of information of the history of the Catholic community in Northeast Ohio.

Canonical Administration
The Tribunal handles marriage annulment petitions and the Mediation Office handles dispute resolution. Funding is sought to allow lay people to pursue canonical studies to assist the Tribunal.
